Catherine Brennan

I am a recent Mathematics graduate from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I've also been working for over a year as a research assistant in the Mathematics department, and have conducted original research under the advisement of Dr. Jeanne Clelland. Before that, I worked as a research associate and project manager for organizations in Development Economics, including projects for Gates Foundation, USAID, and the World Resources Institute.

  • Designed and conducted original award-winning research under the advisement of Dr. Jeanne Clelland.
  • Applied current research in geometry, topology, and computing to the political redistricting problem.
    • Performed MCMC sampling methods and adopted genetic recombination algorithms to compare redistricting underalternative voting methods, including predictive analysis of voting behavior and election outcomes (Python and Juliaimplementations)
    • Consulted for Government Electoral Redistricting Processes; evaluated proposed maps according to target metrics for the Colorado and Massachusetts redistricting committees
